The Bethune Bobcats struggled with offensive rebounds on Thursday (the Idalia Wolves had 17 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Bethune suffered a tough 41-17 defeat at the hands of the Wolves. While losing is never fun, Bethune can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 266th, while the Wolves are ranked 68th).
Despite the loss, Bethune still got an impressive performance from Jamie Strobel, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Jaylyn Kechter was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds for Idalia. Krista Wieser was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Bethune has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Idalia, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bethune will face off against the Warriors at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Weldon Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Saturday. As for Idalia, they will head out on the road to face off against the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Kit Carson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
