Fairfield has been on the road for three straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Wayne City Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Monday, it was a hard-fought match, but Fairfield had to settle for a 37-34 defeat against Carmi-White County. While losing is never fun, Fairfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 352nd, while Carmi-White County is ranked 147th).
Meanwhile, Wayne City struggled with three-point shooting accuracy on Monday (Woodlawn was 21% better) and sadly the final score reflected it. Wayne City was dealt a 53-22 loss at the hands of Woodlawn. Wayne City has not had much luck with Woodlawn recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Wayne City had strong showings from Kallee Seymour, who scored 7 points along with 6 rebounds, and Kenzie Seidel, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds. Seymour has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.
Fairfield's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-8. As for Wayne City, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Fairfield didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Wayne City in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 31-27 win. Will Fairfield repeat their success, or does Wayne City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
