After nine games on the road, Amory is heading back home. They will take on The Kosciusko Whippets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Amory put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Shannon 27-6. Given Amory's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Shannon is ranked 103rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Kosciusko strolled past Murrah with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 43-26.
Kosciusko had a senior duo take command as Caden Greer threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes and Jaquavous Pace picked up 107 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Cj Sandifer was another key contributor, rushing for 69 yards and a touchdown.
Amory's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-8 Aberdeen and 3-7 Corinth (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 35.7% over those games). As for Kosciusko, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
