The Polk County Wolverines will venture away from home to challenge the McMichael Phoenix at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Polk County is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They blew past Wheatmore 3-0.
The final score came out to 25-12, 25-13, 25-16.
Among those leading the charge was Aslyn Scruggs, who had five digs and three aces. What's more, she posted two assists, the most she's had since back in September. Beija Olivari also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.
They weren't the only good servers: Polk County was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, McMichael made easy work of Bartlett Yancey on Wednesday and carried off a 3-0 victory.
McMichael never let Bartlett Yancey on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-12, 25-22.
Polk County better focus on containing Emily Smith and Daisy Pinzon as the pair were huge in McMichael's win. Smith had 12 digs and two assists, while Pinzon had five digs.
Polk County's record is now 15-11. As for McMichael, their record now sits at 21-10.
