On Friday, the Highland Hornets faced the Eldorado Golden Eagles in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Highland fell to Eldorado  70-65. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game  last Wednesday (58), Highland still had to take the loss.
 Despite the loss, Highland still got an impressive performance from   Jesus Licon, who  scored 45 points. That was a full 69.2% of Highland's points, marking the 11th time in a row he's  earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Raul Stanford, who  scored six points along with five  assists and two  steals.
 This is  the second loss in a row for Highland and  nudges their season record down to 10-4. As for Eldorado, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Highland won't have much time to rest: their next  game is against West Mesa at 1:00  p.m.  on January 13th. West Mesa knows how to get  points on the board -- the  team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Highland likes a good challenge. Eldorado will be staying on the road  on Saturday to face off against La Cueva at 2:30  p.m.  on January 13th.
