The Stony Point Tigers typically have all the answers at home, but on Tuesday the McNeil Mavericks proved too difficult a challenge. McNeil secured a 48-43 W over Stony Point. The victory was all the more spectacular given McNeil's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 671st, while Stony Point is ranked 167th).
Despite the loss, Stony Point still got an impressive performance from Naomi Ofunrein, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 10 rebounds. Ofunrein is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now stole two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Matilda Bortels, who scored 10 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for McNeil and bumps their season record up to 6-8. As for Stony Point, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4.
McNeil will be playing in front of their home fans against Cedar Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Stony Point, they will head out on the road to face off against Manor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
