The Capuchino Mustangs are taking a road trip to take on the Archbishop Mitty Monarchs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Capuchino's win against Notre Dame wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mustangs skirted past the Tigers 3-1. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Lily Thomas made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
Thomas wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alana Koenig, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most hits Koenig has posted since back in April of 2025.
Archbishop Mitty came out on top against Gilroy on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Monarchs were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Mustangs.
Like Capuchino, Archbishop Mitty also got a great game from a two-way player: Kaia Williams. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Williams was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Kyleigh Mace tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched.
Back at the plate, Josalyn Stephenson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Nala Opulencia also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Archbishop Mitty's record is now 7-1. As for Capuchino, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Capuchino came up short against Archbishop Mitty when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 4-0. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
