There's no place like home for the San Marcos Rattlers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Tuesday. They rang in the new year with a 62-52 victory over United South on Saturday. The victory was just what San Marcos needed coming off of a 83-59 loss in their prior game.
Zyair Jolivette was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 1 assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of San Marcos' points. Another player making a difference was Donavan Riddick, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
San Marcos has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for United South, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 17-8.
San Marcos will head out on the road to face off against Clemens at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clemens presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than San Marcos in Texas (Clemens is ranked 38th, while San Marcos is ranked 158th). As for United South, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Alexander at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Alexander's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine contests.
