The Fairfield Knights will face off against the Bermudian Springs Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Fairfield's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Bermudian Springs has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Last Wednesday, Fairfield earned a 10-5 win over York County Tech. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Maddy Payne made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.7 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4.
In other batting news, Addison Welch was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Aubree Eichenlaub, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Fairfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bermudian Springs). They put the hurt on York County Tech with a sharp 23-12 win on Friday. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.
Makayla Reese was a standout: she scored four runs and stole four bases while going 4-for-4. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Willow, who scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Fairfield's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Bermudian Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fairfield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .359. However, it's not like Bermudian Springs struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fairfield might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from Bermudian Springs in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Knights have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
