The Coyle Bluejackets fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Glencoe Panthers on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Panthers 51-47. While losing is never fun, Coyle can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Glencoe is ranked 105th).
Coyle's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ashlee Kelley, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 10 rebounds. Kelley is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Ryleigh Long was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 6 rebounds.
Coyle still hasn't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3. As for Glencoe, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coyle won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Waukomis at 6:30 p.m. on December 5th. As for Glencoe, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chisholm at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
