The Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 40-37 win over Milford. Given Wilber-Clatonia's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Eagles are ranked 225th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wilber-Clatonia found their leader in underclassman Grant Kuhlmann, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. It was the first time this season that Kuhlmann posted two or more blocks. Jameson Conway was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Wilber-Clatonia's win bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Milford, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wilber-Clatonia will challenge the Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Milford, they will head out on the road to take on the Titans on Monday. Thayer Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
