Baseball Recap: Cony Has No Trouble Against Erskine Academy

Cony won the last time they faced Erskine Academy and things went their way on Friday too. The Rams put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 14-1 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Rams considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Parker Morin made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Morin was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Jordan Benedict and Lance Theriault did most of the damage at the plate: Benedict went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Theriault got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Landen Perry, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Cony always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Erskine Academy only posted an OBP of .211.

The win got Cony back to even at 1-1. As for Erskine Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cony will challenge Oceanside at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Erskine Academy, they will square off against Morse at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
