Bovina is 0-6 against Panhandle since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Bovina Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the Panhandle Panthers at 7:45 p.m. Hopefully Bovina focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Bovina came up short against Vega and fell 43-30. Bovina has struggled against Vega recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Bovina got a solid performance out of Miguel Lopez, who scored 14 points along with four steals. Yandel Deleon was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Panhandle's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 45-37 to Vega.
Bovina has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Panhandle, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Bovina lost to Panhandle on the road by a decisive 56-41 margin when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Bovina avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
