On Monday, South Walton came up short against Donelson Christian Academy and fell 7-3.
South Walton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tatum Kreinus, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Walton never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Second Baptist last Friday. They blew past the Eagles 11-1. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Braves as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Raina Pitts made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Pitts was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Walton let Chloe Bendure and Bailey Crowther run wild. Bendure went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double, while Crowther went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Crowther has posted since back in April of 2024. Alayah Dalton also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Walton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
South Walton's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Walton, their record now sits at 3-6.
Walton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South Walton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. It's a different story for Walton, though, as they've only averaged .194. Will they be able to contain South Walton's hitters?
South Walton couldn't quite finish off Walton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 10-8. Can South Walton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
