The Payson Longhorns will head out on the road to square off against the Winslow Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Blue Ridge scored an imposing 55 points on Thursday, Payson still came out on top. Payson strolled past Blue Ridge with points to spare, taking the game 73-55.
Payson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Anderson Hatch out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Hatch is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Sergio Madrid was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Holbrook scored an imposing 62 points on Thursday, Winslow still came out on top. Winslow took their match against Holbrook 73-62. The win was familiar territory for Winslow who now have three in a row.
Payson now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Winslow, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.
Payson came out on top in a nail-biter against Winslow in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, sneaking past 65-63. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Winslow's Blaine Begay, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Payson to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
