Baseball Recap: Franklin Has No Trouble Against Waynesville

Franklin won against Trinity last Friday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Wildcats blew past the Waynesville Spartans 12-3. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Liam Rebholz made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Rebholz was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Aiden Standifer was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Zach Beeson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Franklin hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.

Franklin pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Waynesville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Franklin will be playing at home against Monroe at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Waynesville, they are taking a road trip to square off against Brookville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans are facing the Blue Devils at the right time seeing as the Blue Devils are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
