The Kailua Surfriders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Moanalua Menehune at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Kailua has ten straight victories, Moanalua has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
In what's become a running theme this season, Kailua gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 69-18 win over McKinley. That 51 points margin sets a new team best for Kailua this season.
Meanwhile, Moanalua pushed their score all the way to 58 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 67-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kahuku. Moanalua has struggled against Kahuku recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their defeat, Moanalua saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Tramir Ladipo, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ladipo has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Barcelona, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Kailua's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.5 points per game. As for Moanalua, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-17.
Kailua strolled past Moanalua when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a score of 68-50. Will Kailua repeat their success, or does Moanalua have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
