The Giltner Hornets took care of business in their home opener on Thursday (barely). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 32-30 win over Harvard. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Giltner also won the last time the pair played back in February.
Tracy Wiles was the offensive standout of the game as she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 10 rebounds. Hailey Eastman was another key contributor, scoring 2 points along with 7 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Harvard saw an underclassman step up: Tabi Forney scored 16 points along with 9 rebounds and 6 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Gimpel, who scored 8 points along with 6 rebounds.
Giltner's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Harvard, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Giltner will face off against Franklin at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Harvard, they will head out on the road to face off against Palmer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
