The Freeport Bulldogs suffered their biggest loss since December 8, 2023 on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 68-48 walloping at the hands of Jay. Freeport has struggled against Jay recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Freeport still got an impressive performance from Jasmine Miles, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That was a full 52.1% of Freeport's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Shelby Cosson, who scored 14 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jay to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aubreigh Nelson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Kaylee Gilbreath was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with two steals.
Freeport's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Jay, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3.
Freeport will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against South Walton at 6:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (South Walton is ranked 218th, while Freeport is ranked 236th). As for Jay, they will head out on the road to challenge Baker at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Baker focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
