Curlew is 8-2 against Republic since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Curlew Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Republic Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Curlew's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 75-47 loss at the hands of Oakesdale. While losing is never fun, Curlew can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while Oakesdale is ranked 82nd).
Curlew's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Logan Thompson, who scored 24 points along with 8 rebounds, and Evan Olson who scored 14 points. The matchup was Thompson's sixth in a row with at least ten points.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 70 points the game before, Republic were a bit more limited in their contest on Saturday. They were outmatched by Cusick on the road and fell 76-19.
Cusick's victory bumped their season record to 3-0 while Curlew's loss dropped theirs to 2-3.
Curlew skirted past Republic 53-51 in their previous meeting back in January. Does Curlew have another victory up their sleeve, or will Republic turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
