Softball Recap: Ware Shoals Now 7-2 over Last Nine Games

Ware Shoals had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt Emerald on Thursday. The Hornets were the clear victors by a 17-3 margin over the Vikings. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Sarah Vinson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit and allowing only one earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three runs and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Kaylee Watts and Bella Davis did most of the damage at the plate: Watts went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Davis got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and one RBI. Paisley Pelfrey was another key player, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Ware Shoals kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Emerald didn't got any hits.

Ware Shoals has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Emerald, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

Coming up, Ware Shoals will head out to face off against Abbeville at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Emerald does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
