In what's become a running theme this season, the Van Horn Eagles gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They claimed a resounding 60-32 victory over Dell City at home. Winning may never get old, but Van Horn sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Van Horn was led to victory by Gio Corralez and Joey Anchondo. Corralez scored 21 points, while Anchondo scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Anchondo has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Orlando Zamora, who scored four points.
Dell City's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reyes Espinoza, who scored nine points along with four steals. Espinoza is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Tate, who scored 12 points.
Van Horn has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. As for Dell City, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.
Van Horn will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dell City, they will head out on the road to take on the Roadrunners at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Big Bend is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
