The Franklinton Rams came tearing into Thursday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Heritage 55-37. Given Franklinton's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Heritage is ranked 388th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Franklinton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Asia Burton, who scored 20 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Burton has scored at least 25% of Franklinton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikayla Taborn, who scored 15 points.
Franklinton pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.2 points per game. As for Heritage, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklinton won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Leesville Road at 3:30 p.m. on December 22nd. Leesville Road is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Heritage will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Chapel Hill at 6:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
