Godwin is 8-2 against Deep Run since June of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Eagles will host the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
22 must be Godwin's lucky number: they beat Hermitage with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Eagles beat the Panthers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 22-3. Considering the Eagles have won nine matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Eli Macturk was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Alex Boyd, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Godwin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .651. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.
Meanwhile, Deep Run got themselves on the board against J.R. Tucker on Friday, but J.R. Tucker never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 10-0 victory. That ten-run margin sets a new team best for the Wildcats this season.
Evan Arsenault looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Deep Run is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise.
At the plate, Griffin Willis was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Bryson Jones was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Godwin's win bumped their record up to 14-2. As for Deep Run, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Godwin hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Deep Run struggles in that department as they've averaged .313. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Godwin was able to grind out a solid win over Deep Run when the teams last played back in March, winning 11-6. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
