On Wednesday, the Timberline Wolves faced the Owyhee Storm in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Timberline was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 58-57 to Owyhee. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Timberline in their matchups with Owyhee: they've now lost three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Timberline lost, one person who can't be blamed is Emmi Swillie. Despite the final result, she scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Swillie has scored all season. Jamysen Yates was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Owyhee's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mikale Roy led the charge by scoring 15 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Josie Davis, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Timberline's loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Owyhee, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.
Timberline is on the road again on Saturday and plays Lake City at 1:00 p.m. on February 10th. Owyhee does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
