Colonial Beach and Lancaster are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Colonial Beach Drifters just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Lancaster Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. Colonial Beach is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
On Wednesday, Colonial Beach came up short against West Point and fell 44-37.
Meanwhile, Lancaster's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They lost to Essex at home by a decisive 50-35 margin. While losing is never fun, Lancaster can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 392nd, while Essex is ranked 132nd).
Colonial Beach has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Lancaster, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.
Colonial Beach strolled past Lancaster in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 39-25. The rematch might be a little tougher for Colonial Beach since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
