Softball Recap: Foss Takes a Loss

Foss extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-9 in the process. They came up short against the Washington Patriots, falling 15-7. If the Falcons were looking for revenge after losing 16-1 to the Patriots when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Washington, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The result was nothing new for Washington, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

For Washington's part, Steve-Rae Garcia-Zamora and Dee Moore made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Garcia-Zamora tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Moore tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Garcia-Zamora has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Garcia-Zamora went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Moore went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harmony Steenhard, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Alex Miles was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Coming up, Foss will square off against Clover Park at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Timberwolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 20.44 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Washington, they will be playing at home against Eatonville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cruisers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.77 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of.
