The West-Oak Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 61-28 loss at the hands of Walhalla. West-Oak was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-6.
When it comes to explaining why West-Oak lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lucas Towe. Despite the final result, he scored four points along with 13 rebounds and two blocks. Drew Crompton was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, West-Oak smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Walhalla's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Crews Richardson, who scored 12 points along with three steals. Richardson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyler Lusk, who scored ten points along with three steals.
West-Oak has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Walhalla, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West-Oak will challenge Crescent at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Crescent is on a four-game streak of home losses, West-Oak a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Walhalla will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Seneca at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Seneca knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Walhalla likes a good challenge.
