In what's become a running theme this season, Hume-Fogg gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They breezed by Maplewood on the road to the tune of 67-33. Given Hume-Fogg's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while Maplewood is ranked 385th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hume-Fogg got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Michael Nwoye out in front who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. Nwoye is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alonzo Rhodes, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Glencliff scored an imposing 59 points on Thursday, Lawson still came out on top. Lawson walked away with a 69-59 victory over Glencliff.
Hume-Fogg has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Lawson, their win bumped their record up to 11-16.
Hume-Fogg was able to grind out a solid victory over Lawson when the teams last played back in January, winning 49-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hume-Fogg since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
