The Knox City Greyhounds put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 72-26 win over Spur at home. Knox City might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won eight games by 45 points or more this season.
Cameron Hernandez was his usual excellent self, rushing for 119 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. Another player making a difference was Tristin Baxter, who rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ace Walker, who punched in a rushing score, and also picked up 67 receiving yards.
Knox City's victory was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 10-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Spur, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
Knox City will look to defend their home field on Friday against Kress at 7:00 p.m. Kress will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Knox City is ranked first). Spur does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
