The Ponderosa Bruins will face off against the Inderkum Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ponderosa is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Ponderosa's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Bella Vista as they made off with a 6-0 win. The Bruins haven't had any issues with the Broncos recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Not much got past Haley Warney, who gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Bella Vista off the board. Warney has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kate McCartney, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Haley Arroyo, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Ponderosa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Inderkum had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Falcons. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since February 18th.
Inderkum let Anyssa Luttig and Brielle Collins run wild. Luttig went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Collins scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Luttig has posted since back in April of 2024. Alexandra Jacques was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Inderkum pushed their record up to 9-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Ponderosa, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ponderosa hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .362. However, it's not like Inderkum struggles in that department as they've averaged .332. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ponderosa couldn't quite finish off Inderkum in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 and fell 2-0. Will the Bruins have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
