Westville extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-3 in the process. They fell 20-17 to the Calumet Christian Patriots. If the Blackhawks were looking for revenge after losing 19-3 to the Patriots when the teams met back in April of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Joey Villarreal was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Westville is 2-1 when Villarreal posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Jacob Kozub was another key player, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
As for Calumet Christian, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-4. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.8 runs.
On Calumet Christian's side, Jackson Gary made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Gary posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Mateo Piquion was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Sam Thursby, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Westville has already played their next matchup, a 7-6 loss against Hebron on the 18th. As for Calumet Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-7 victory against Whiting on the 24th.
