The Barker Bulldogs will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Wilson Lakemen at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Barker will be strutting in after a victory while Wilson will be coming in after a loss.
Barker's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over Newfane. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Peyton Bradley made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Bradley was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Barker let Alina Riches and Mady Flint run wild. Riches scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Flint went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Stoll, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Wilson suffered their closest defeat since April 19, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Albion by a score of 6-4. The loss put an end to the Lakemen's undefeated start to the season.
Riley Robinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits.
At the plate, Lucy Madan was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
Barker's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Wilson, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
Barker took their victory against Wilson when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-3 score. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lakemen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
