There wasn't a lot of overall movement in the power rankings this week, but with 11 teams changing position, that doesn't mean the week lacked for thrills. We'll tackle that and more in this week's report.
Can't Touch This
Hilo got a 45 - 23 win over Kealakehe last week, and a key reason for the win was junior Kyan Miyasato. Miyasato threw for 248 yards and three touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Miyasato as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
On paper, the match between Punahou (3rd in the power rankings) and Campbell (5th) looked as though it might be one of the more compelling ones, but things did not play out that way on the field. Punahou had all the answers against Campbell, winning 43 - 14. The MaxPreps rankings were spot on as they projected Punahou as the clear winner.
No Stoppin 'Em
Konawaena has been an offensive powerhouse for three straight weeks after the team lit up the scoreboard again last week. Everything went its way against Hawaii Prep as it secured a 62 - 13 win. The Hawaii Prep defense has struggled this season (giving up an average of 27 points per game), and Konawaena took advantage of that. The combined 75-point effort made this the highest-scoring game in the power rankings for the week.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Mililani (4th in the power rankings) and Kahuku (2nd). Both teams are coming in hot off of wins in their previous games. Of course, Mililani and Kahuku can't both win again this week, so we'll learn on Saturday which team falters and which extends its success.
