St. Vincent is 7-2 against Savannah Christian since November of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The St. Vincent's Saints will head out on the road to face off against the Savannah Christian Raiders at 6:00 p.m. St. Vincent's is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
Last Tuesday, St. Vincent's took a serious blow against Bryan County, falling 67-39. While losing is never fun, St. Vincent's can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 435th, while Bryan County is ranked 96th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Elsie Thompson, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and four blocks. Another player making a difference was Alexis Ghaleb, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Savannah Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Savannah Country Day on the road and fell 64-27. Savannah Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-11.
St. Vincent's has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Savannah Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-18.
St. Vincent's beat Savannah Christian 44-37 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Vincent's since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
