Basketball Recap: Fishers Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Lawrence North

On Tuesday, Fishers faced Lawrence North in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Fishers Tigers fell 67-60 to the Lawrence North Wildcats. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (58), the Tigers still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Fishers still got an impressive performance from Allison Scheu, who went 8 of 15 en route to 23 points in addition to five assists and five boards. The dominant performance gave Scheu a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Dickman, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Fishers smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lawrence North only pulled down eight offensive boards.

Lawrence North got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kya Hurt out in front who posted 16 points along with five assists and five steals. Hurt has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Jamaya Thomas was another key player, going 7 for 10 on her way to 18 points.

Fishers' loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Lawrence North, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-8.

Fishers has already played their next matchup (against Franklin Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Lawrence North wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 67-39 win against Pike on the 31st.
