The Braddock Bulldogs can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 61-32 win over Coral Gables at home. Given Braddock's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while Coral Gables is ranked 499th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Braddock's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Yvonne Jebian led the charge by almost dropping a triple-double on 14 points, nine rebounds, and nine steals. Jebian has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Elsa Stier was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Coral Gables' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sela Pe?a, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Veronica Trueba, who scored eight points.
Braddock has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Coral Gables, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-12.
Braddock will head out on the road to challenge Southridge at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Southridge is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56.2 points per game. As for Coral Gables, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Ferguson at 4:30 p.m. on January 18th.
