Basketball Recap: STX Falls Despite Big Games from Caedmon Williams and Guillermo Moreno

STX's tournament run continued when they took on Aggieland HomeSchool on Friday. The STX Saints came up short against the Aggieland HomeSchool Panthers, falling 54-30. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 978th, while the Panthers are ranked 338th).

STX's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Guillermo Moreno, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 16 points, and Caedmon Williams, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 12 points. The game was Moreno's third in a row with at least ten points.

Aggieland HomeSchool's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elias Dowell, who posted ten points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Cox, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 11 points.

STX has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season. As for Aggieland HomeSchool, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-3.

STX and Port Isabel will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. STX is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.8 points per game this season. As for Aggieland HomeSchool, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-58 win against Non Varsity Tournament Opponent on the 13th.
