Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is White Station's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

White Station barely beat West Memphis the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans blew past the Blue Devils 16-6 on Wednesday. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by ten runs or more this season.

Cooper Walter was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Benjamin Mendez and Julian Haddad did most of the damage at the plate: Mendez went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Haddad went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs Haddad has posted since back in March. Michael Arnold was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.

White Station always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Memphis only posted an OBP of .423.

White Station is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for West Memphis, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-17.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. White Station will host Evangelical Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Memphis, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wynne at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
