The Taconic Hills Titans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 80-33 loss at the hands of Coxsackie-Athens. Taconic Hills was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-14.
Coxsackie-Athens' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Riley Sitcer, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 17 rebounds. Sitcer is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 16 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Baileigh Briski, who scored 23 points along with four steals.
Taconic Hills' loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.8 points per game. As for Coxsackie-Athens, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Taconic Hills will take on the Blue Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Hudson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 35 last Saturday. As for Coxsackie-Athens, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Rensselaer will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 490th, while the Riverhawks are ranked 132nd).
