The Rochester Zebras will face off against the New Prairie Cougars at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Rochester's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so New Prairie's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Rochester will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against Lewis Cass on Friday. The Zebras came out on top against the Kings by a score of 12-7. The victory continues a trend for the Zebras in their matchups with the Kings: they've now won three in a row.
Rochester secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Brady Coleman, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Coleman has posted since back in April. Another was Brayson Flory, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, New Prairie entered their tilt with Mishawaka on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Cavemen.
Sullivan Kress spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Reed Robinson was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Bell, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
New Prairie's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-9. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Rochester, their win bumped their record up to 19-6.
Rochester might still be hurting after the 16-3 loss they got from New Prairie when the teams last played back in May of 2016. Will the Zebras have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
