Logan has gone a perfect 3-0 against Magdalena recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Longhorns will take on the Steers at 2:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Logan will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Cimarron on Monday. The Longhorns were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Rams. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Longhorns' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Aydin Kotara and Kale Griffiths made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Kotara struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Griffiths tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Kotara has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Kotara scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Griffiths scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Logan let Hayden Bruhn and Devin Kotara run wild. Bruhn went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Kotara scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Logan is undefeated when Kotara posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Bill DeLuca, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Magdalena came tearing into Wednesday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Buffaloes with a sharp 18-2 victory.
Magdalena got a big performance out of Joseph Zamora, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeffrey Stuteville, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Magdalena was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Melrose only posted a batting average of .118.
Magdalena's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.9 runs over those games. As for Logan, their record now sits at 6-3.
Everything went Logan's way against Magdalena in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Logan made off with a 14-8 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Longhorns since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
