St.Ignace is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Central Lake is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The St.Ignace Saints will take on the Central Lake Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, St.Ignace faced Pickford in a battle between two of the state's top teams. St.Ignace simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Pickford 42-10 on the road.
Meanwhile, Central Lake made easy work of Atlanta on Friday and carried off a 36-12 win.
Central Lake had a senior duo take command as Garrison Barrett rushed for 191 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries and Drayten Evans rushed for 223 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. Barrett was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 63 yards.
Their wins bumped St.Ignace to 8-1 and Central Lake to 6-2.
Everything came up roses for St.Ignace against Central Lake when the teams last played back in October of 2016 as the team secured a 56-0 win. Does St.Ignace have another victory up their sleeve, or will Central Lake turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
