LORIS, S.C. - After taking the lead in the fourth quarter,
Dillon (S.C.) held on for a 21-14 victory over
Loris (S.C.) on Saturday. The difference for the Wildcats was it ran for a touchdown.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Ryan Bellamy, the Lions went into halftime with a 14-7 lead. The Wildcats scored the winning points with a rushing touchdown that came in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring six points in the third, Dillon still trailed by 1 point going into the fourth quarter. But eight points in the fourth helped DHS pull out the victory.
With the win the Wildcats extended their winning streak to five games. Dillon defeated the Swamp Foxes 41-7 last week.
Loris' Bellamy played well. The junior ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to eight on the year.
DHS had given up an average of 8.1 points prior to the contest. LHS's 14 points were well below its season average of 28.6 per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 57-0 win for the Wildcats.
The loss comes after Loris defeated Mullins 36-8 last week. The loss snapped the Lions' 3-game winning streak.
In its next matchup Loris (6-3) will take on Aynor in a AA Region VIII game. The Blue Jackets go into the week with a record of 6-2.
