Basketball Recap: South Guilford Homeschool Extends Winning Streak to Five

South Guilford HomeSchool came tearing into Thursday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down the Surry HomeSchool Runnin' Patriots 64-45. That's more bragging rights for the Cougars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Guilford HomeSchool to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamar Turner, who went 9 for 13 on his way to 25 points and seven rebounds. Those 25 points gave Turner a new career-high. Nate Martin was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.

South Guilford HomeSchool has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Surry HomeSchool, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

South Guilford HomeSchool will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against South Wake at 8:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025. South Guilford HomeSchool knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully South Wake likes a good challenge. As for Surry HomeSchool, they will be taking part in a tournament against Faith Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
