Basha is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Hamilton is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Bears will face off against the Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Basha is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Salpointe Catholic, who was ranked 17th at the time (Basha was ranked first). The Bears simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Lancers 58-7. The Bears' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Basha got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brodie Vehrs out in front who threw for 190 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 passes. Vehrs has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Jake Rogers was another key passer, throwing for 105 yards and one TD while completing 87.5% of his passes.
Basha's run defense was locked in: Salpointe Catholic could only muster three yards per carry. While two picked up at least three total tackles, Xavier Rivera-Rogers stood above the rest. He made three total tackles and defended two passes. Basha's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.4.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Hamilton on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Pinnacle out of the water with a 49-13 final score. Give the Huskies' offense some serious credit: that high-scoring performance was actually the fewest points they've scored all season.
A big part of Hamilton's victory came down to the chemistry between Jax Sculley and his top target Roye Oliver III. Sculley threw for 444 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.5 yards per attempt while Oliver III picked up 284 receiving yards and four scores. Oliver III really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 87 yards. Jacob Brown helped Sculley out on the ground, rushing for 90 yards and one TD.
Basha's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Hamilton, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 7-0.
The upcoming matchup will be a clash of competing strengths. Basha has deployed a run-first offense that has averaged 170.6 rushing yards a game. Meanwhile, Hamilton has preferred to attack from the air: they average 345 passing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
Basha strolled past Hamilton in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 35-20. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Huskies' Rich Lucero Jr., who rushed for 53 yards and one score on only five carries, and also threw for 155 yards and one touchdown. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Bears to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
