Football Recap: Thomas Heyward Academy Piles Up the Points Against Patrick Henry Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Thomas Heyward Academy). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Patrick Henry Academy Patriots 47-14. With the Rebels ahead 41-7 at the half, the game was all but over already.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Tony O'Banner and Jace Bessinger. O'Banner rushed for 100 yards on only 12 carries while Bessinger rushed for 48 yards. Those 48 rushing yards gave Bessinger a new career-high.

Thomas Heyward Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 228 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Patrick Henry Academy only rushed for 88.

When it comes to explaining why Patrick Henry Academy lost, don't look at Kai Sobey. Despite the final result, he rushed for 94 yards and one score on only seven carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 52 yards. Rylin Brunson got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Thomas Heyward Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Patrick Henry Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Coming up, Thomas Heyward Academy will square off against Andrew Jackson Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Patrick Henry Academy, they will take on Colleton Prep Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The War Hawks will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight.
