In what's become a running theme this season, the New Prairie Cougars gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They blew past LaVille, posting a 60-24 victory on the road. Given New Prairie's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while LaVille is ranked 300th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
New Prairie was led to victory by Morgan White and Jayden Flagg. White scored 20 points along with six assists and six rebounds, while Flagg scored 17 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Flagg has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times she's played. Jolie Johns was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
LaVille's loss came despite strong showings from Brooke Edison and Jasmine Foster. Edison scored six points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Foster scored eight points along with five rebounds. Edison is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
The win was the fourth in a row for New Prairie, bringing their record for this year to 18-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points per game. As for LaVille, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.
New Prairie will square off against Glenn at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Glenn will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for LaVille, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Knox on January 23rd.
