After three games on the road, Sagemont is heading back home. They will take on the Gulliver Prep Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sagemont has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 300 points over their last five contests.
Last Friday, Sagemont faced Lake Worth in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Sagemont walked away with a 62-54 victory over Lake Worth.
Sagemont's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Patrick Liburd, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Kevin Thomas was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Gulliver Prep had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against Westminster Christian by a score of 64-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Jackson Mansfield was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Amare Sanders, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Sagemont's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-6. As for Gulliver Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Sagemont strolled past Gulliver Prep when the teams last played back in January of 2021 by a score of 52-38. Will Sagemont repeat their success, or does Gulliver Prep have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
