The Rio Rico Hawks scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They really took it to Walden Grove for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-22 victory at home. Rio Rico might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four games by 25 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Angelina Whelan, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Rio Rico's points. Debanny Cota was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 assists and six rebounds.
Rio Rico's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Walden Grove, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
Rio Rico will head out on the road to face off against Amphitheater at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Amphitheater is on a eight-game streak of home wins, Rio Rico a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Walden Grove will take on Douglas at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Douglas focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday.
